Cobham 1-0 Redhill - Match Abandoned
Report by Janet Creighton
Redhill’s first U18s Youth team since the 1980’s will be unforgettable after starting their
first league game of the season with a trip to Cobham FC. With just one game under their belts and not having the best of pre-season
preparations, the game was a bit of a mystery with so many changes to the original team. The reds started the game well and looking
quite comfortable on the ball and looking the team likely to score first. The quick tempo at the start of the game caused a moment’s
lapse in concentration and reds keeper Matt Nicholson was let off early in the game after miss judging the bounce of the ball. The
reds found themselves a goal down but very much in control of their game as they pressed for the equalizer and were unlucky after Ryan
Olver struck 30 yards out bending the ball but hitting the woodwork. JJ Jamison and Damien Olver were causing some problems for the
Cobham defence with their pace upfront but with poor visibility as the night drew in it soon became apparent that Cobham were having
some major problems with their lighting, the ref had no option but to abandoned the game 25 minutes in for health and safety reasons.
Redhill youth Team: Matt Nicholson, JJ Jamison, Ryan Olver, Damien Olver, Jake Kill, Ruben Garcia, Glenn Smith, Danny Evans,
Danny Bright, Qudus Popoola, Robert Depeazer.
Subs: George Millard, Matt Philips, James Bolton, Hyden Tyre, Gullit Hubsei.
The Redhill management would like to thank Cobham FC for the kind welcome and hospitality they received!
The Match is due to replayed at a later date, yet to be arranged.
