REDS BEAT THE TOP
Redhill 2-0 Chichester City
Saturday 6th March 2010
League

Redhill recorded a great victory over top of the league Chichester City, denting their title ambitions. But does the 2-0 win keep Redhills own hopes alive in the race for promotion?

In the opening few minutes, Chi 'keeper Simon Benjamin clashed with his own defender, Tom Broadbent, after Leon Dussard whipped in a ball towards the danger area.
Shortly after, Charles Ofusuhene had an effort go wide before Chichester at the other end had a close range free kick that ended up high in the trees.
The game went quiet for the next five minutes, but on the fifteen minute mark, it picked up again. Lee Radford had a shot go well wide after he did well to untangle himself from his marker and shoot on the turn, then on 18 minutes Redhill took the lead when Daniel Morris latched onto a through ball and smashed home passed Benjamin.

Chichester nearly grabbed a quick equaliser when Ben Vassallo attempted to chip Chris May, but the ball looped just high and wide, then moments later, the visitors had a brilliant chance to draw level when they were awarded a penalty after Chris May brought down a City striker, however, Chris May showed why he is up there with the best as he saved the initial penalty from Brockway, then somehow got up quick enough to react to the shot on the rebound.

On 33 minutes, Redhill were awarded a penalty of their own as Daniel Morris was pulled down in the Chichester City box.
Morris himself stepped up to the spot and calmly placed the ball into the net to make it 2-0.
The remainder of the 1st half was largely uneventful, but the second half made up for it.

Leon Dussard had a Redhill effort go over, then Daniel Morris hit a spectacular effort from Josh Bonnets clever pass forward.
City did have the ball in the Redhill net but it was ruled offside, then Morris was in again for Redhill but was well tackled by the Chi goalkeeper.
Chris May was needed again and he saved superbly from a long range free kick to keep the clean sheet, and at the other end, man of the moment Daniel Morris played a lovely ball to Lee Radford, but it was well cut out before "Radders" had a chance to go one on one with the 'keeper.

Chichester's Calum Cutler was sent off for a second bookable offence, both for dissent.

Substitute Marcus Elliot hit a shot way over after some brilliant build up play by Redhill. Charles Ofusuhene provided some wonderful skill in avoiding a sliding tackle that sent the Reds on their way.

Towards the end of 90 minutes, the game was soured when Chichester again lost discipline with Joe Briggs being sent off.

Redhill Team - May, Hudson (Nicholas), Radford, Hogg, Stagg, Kyezu (Headley), Sealey (Elliot), Ofusuhene, Morris, Bonnet, Dussard.

Redhill Reserves also won 2-0. They were away at Little Common.

REDHILL LOOK TO
EXPAND YOUTH STRUCTURE

Redhill FC are in preliminary stages of looking into the possibility of forming an Under 17 OR 16's team next season to further strengthen it's place in the community and step its youth policy up to another level.
The main purpose of the team will be to provide youngsters with the chance to play under the Redhill Football Club banner and to provide the Under 18's with a future, which of course, is there to hopefully provide Redhill FC with it's reserve and first team future stars.

We are inviting people to "signal their interest" in running such a team.
If the project does lift off the ground, the coach and any staff they bring with them must be CRB checked, and preferably have a record in working with youngsters, although this is not essential, and a CRB check can also be completed within the club.
E-mail us here with a CV and a little information on yourself if you are interested in the role of Manager.

YOUTH TEAM LOSE IN QUARTERS
Redhill Youth lost 3-0 at home to Holmesdale in the quarter final of the Southern Youth League Cup. There was a freak 5 minutes when all 3 goals were scored in the 1st half.
Redhill came into the second half a much better side and were unlucky not to get back into the game after creating lots of chances.
