LUCKY TO DRAW LEVEL
Redhill 1-1 Pagham
Saturday 6th February 2010
League

Redhill ended the day with a point in what was a dissapointing result for the Reds.
Redhills Morgan Jendon made the squad for the first time as a substitute following his performance for the Reserve team against Sutton United Reserves on Tuesday.

The first half was anything but fast and furious, although there was a handful of chances and Paghams goal.
First off Calvin Headley, playing left midfield played in a low cross to Marcus Elliot who did everything right with a first time effort which was well saved by Wes Hallett.
Pagham took the lead after only ten minutes when Michael Frangou pounced on a through ball and took advantage of the off-side trap to round the angry Redhill 'Keeper, Chris May, and slot the ball calmly into the net.

Despite Redhills dominance of possession, the problem, one again, was in the final third, which of course, is the area that wins you games.
The ball was in and around the Pagham penalty area plenty of times but Wes Hallett had virtually nothing to do in the Pagham goal.
Ali Kyezu did have an effort at Hallett, Josh Bonnet stretched in an attempt to grab a Headley cross, and Daniel Morris really should have scored when he found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper right at the end of the half, but Hallett managed to save with his feet.
Pagham did create one or two attacking moves themselves, but the defensive prowes of Charlie Stagg and Jon Hogg stopped them from doubling their lead.

The second half saw a little more action, but more of the same from Redhill, despite still playing the beautiful game the way is was intended, getting shots on goal was still the only problem.
Both 'keepers had to work early on, Chris May made a vital save, then at the other end Hallett cut out a cross, and despite fumbling, he recovered well.
Marcus Elliot had an effort fly over for the Reds, then Pagham defender Joe Booker cleared a cross, Charlie Stagg went close with a header from the resulting corner.

Michael Frangou then found himself bearing down on goal after a rare Redhill defensive slip, Chris May once again produced a fine save.

The game turned when Lee Radford came off the bench, as he pace and enthusiasm on the field transpired to his team-mates, and the Redhill crowd.
Immediately Radford got in on the action, crossing dangerously into the box, Ali Kyezu latched onto the clearance but his shot was over. Another cross came in form the other side, with Asher Hudson poised, but the ball was again cut out for a corner.

Lee Radford then struck the bar for Redhill with a looping header that was close to sneaking over the 'keepers head.
Two more changes for Redhill with Chris Hubbard returning from suspension and Kyle Morgan entering the field, giving Redhill another boost, and it paid off, with Kyle Morgan grabbing an equaliser with just 5 minutes to go, a scramble in the net ensued afterwartd as Hallett seemed detirmined to snatch the ball before any Redhill player could get it back to the center spot. This resulted in both Hallett and Chris hubbard receiving yellow cards.

Redhill were unlucky not to steal all the points in injury time, with plenty of possession, and a break from defence ending with Lee Radford shooting over the bar.

Redhill Team - May, Nicholas, Headley (Hubbard), Hogg, Stagg, Hudson, Kyezu (Morgan), Ofusuhene, Morris, Bonnet, Elliot (Radford).
Subs not used - Difford, Jendon.

REDS BEAT THREE BRIDGES
Three Bridges 0-2 Redhill
Tuesday 2nd February 2010
League

Redhill grabbed the points but it was hard work and the score line may have been a little too harsh on the home side. But take nothing away from Redhill who battled right to the end.

In the opening stages Three Bridges carved out the most chances but their scoring boots must have been left in the dressing room.

Redhill came on the attack in a handful of situations with chances from Calvin Headley (2 efforts), Charles Ofusuhene and Josh Bonnet,
Three Bridges had great chances in the frst half with one effort hitting the bar after a scramble in the box, then Jon Hogg had to rescue the Reds via a goal-line clearance. Chris May was also called upon to make a save from close range.

Redhill finally took the lead on 38 minutes when Josh Bonnet played a clever over the top ball to Daniel Morris who nodded it into the pasth of newboy Kyle Morgan to powered the ball past Mark Fox.
Bridges very nearly equalled shortly after when George Hillier poked over after seeing May off his line.

Three Bridges had another hatful of chances in the second half, but Chris May worked wonders in the Reds goal and the defence worked their socks off to keep them out,
Redhill missed a couple of sitters, the first after some great individual play by Daniel Morris who found Josh Bonnet, but his shot was well saved and moments later, another opurtunity arrived for Bonnet, but he opted to pass to Morris in the middle, to be fair it was slightly behind him, but the striker will be kicking himself after his strike was saved off the line by a Bridges defender.

Asher Hudson showed that whatever Manchester United's Nani can do, he can do better when his quick skill knocked two Bridges defenders for six, he then centered for Calvin Headley but his shot went wide.

Redhills defending then became desperate as Bridges piled on the pressure. Again, some excellent defending by Jon Hogg and Charlie Stagg kept them at bay, and Chris May pulled off another couple of cracking saves. One point blank save was cleared into the path of Daniel Morris who was all alone at the top of his half. He took the ball on and ran towards goal but shot a tad too early and the ball sailed over the bar.

Redhill wrapped up the points 3 minutes into injury time when a moment of long possession led to Daniel Morris finding substitute Marcus Elliot in the middle to side foot the ball into the net.

Redhill Team - May, Nicholas, Headley, Hogg, Stagg, Hudson, Morgan (Elliot) Ofusuhene, Morris, Bonnet (Ditchburn), Radford (Kyezu).
Sub not used - Alcindor.

YOUTH TEAM BEAT CRAWLEY DOWN
Redhill Youth 2-1 Crawley Down Youth
Wednesday 3rd February 2010
League

Full Report:

Redhill's Youth team were once again beaten by a late goal against Holmesdale in their previous fixture and were keen to bring a losing streak to a quick end. 5 times this year, the boys have been in front against league opposition, but failed to hold out their lead, and have ended up being beaten by a single goal. There was a feeling tonights game would be different and they started the game with a clear intenion.
Redhill completely dominated the first half creating several chances. Emmanuel Oloyede, who played 70 minutes for the Redhill Reserves on Tuesday and scored, had several clear cut opportunities but failed to hit the target. Nahum Green and Andy Beesley carried on creating chances, but finally 12 shots later, Kieran Harrison calmly weaved his way through the Crawley Down defence and slotted home with 2 minutes to half time. Redhill came out firing again in the second half, and a precise through ball from Harrison found Andy Beesley making an excellent diagonal run, splitting the two Crawley Down centre halves and poking home around the keeper to put the Reds 2-0 up.

Redhill began to take their foot off the gas, and for a 15 minute spell allowed Crawley Down back in to the game. Crawley's centre midfield hit a shot from the edge of the area which found the back of the net, and it was clearly the warning shot Redhill needed, because for the rest of the game, the Reds began to get the ball back under control. Three quick changes were made which saw Jack Howard make an impressive debut, along with Josh Bargary and Dom Bland give the Reds some much needed freshness in the midfield.
The defence were excellent throughout. Noel Maher and Lewis Grinham were relatively untroubled, and kept calm during the 15 minutes the rest of the side seemed to be at sixes and sevens. 15 year old Gideon Acheampong was once again sensational at left back, and showed why he is rated so highly by the senior management team.
The boys held out for a 2-1 win, but they must learn to take their chances. 17 clear shots with only 2 goals to show for it will not be enough in tighter games, however 3 points is 3 points and the Youth team can be proud of the way they played throughout the game. The boys have a massive league cup last 16 game next week at Kiln Brow and will be working hard at training over the coming days to ensure they do the club proud.

RESERVES REPORT
Sutton United Res 3-1 Redhill Res
Tuesday 2nd February 2010
Surrey Premier Cup

In what was always going to be a difficult game for Redhill they more than acquitted themselves against higher opposition. Sutton started the brightest making the most of a difficult playing surface and nearly got lucky very early on with a miss-hit cross that clipped the top of the bar. However it was Redhill that carved out the first clear cut opportunity when Emmanuel Oloyede broke clear but saw his effort well saved my the Sutton keeper. Despite this early chance and Redhill’s hard work and endeavor it was Sutton that opened the scoring after capitalizing on a loose ball they broke quickly and their lively striker, who had earlier seen efforts cleared off the line and well saved scored from close range after good work by Suttons left winger, who would go on to have a hand in all of their goals. The second half began with Redhill showing more confidence with the returning John Difford marshalling the back line and Eku Deen’s mazy runs causing panic whenever he touched the ball. It wasn’t at all surprising to see Redhill score the equalizer and Emmanuel made up for his first half miss by scoring a great individual goal albeit at the second attempt. Unfortunately for all their hard work particularly by the tireless Morgan Jenden in midfield Sutton raised their game and scored two further goals to end the tie.

Again the Reserves proved they can compete at this level drawing a number of complements from the opposing supporters and staff including some impressive individual performances and should take a lot from this game.
Well played Lads.

Sellek, Lewis (Benson), Difford (Rodgers), Holmes, Deen, Awanngo, Jenden, Oleyede, (Grinham), Walters, Piper, Booth.
