Redhill can count themselves unlucky to finish this game with nothing. By far the better side and only lost to a controversial goal scored by
Lee Flavan.
Wayne Clark was the first to have a chance for the Reds as he began a long run and eventually skipping past the visitors defence before unleashing
an effort that that was well stopped by Rob O'Hara, and minute later, it was Clark again, this time with a sweetly struck volley that flew low and
only inches wide of the target.
Further Redhill chances were created, Andy Atkin made carved one out for himself after showing some excellent skill in the box, creating his own
space with a high ball over his marker but his final shot went wide.
Atkin then linked up superbly with Aaron Murphy, leaving Murphy in space after a one-two, but his strike also went wide.
Lingfields Lee Flavin then had the first of Lingfields chances when the ball dropped his way following a clearance by Jon Difford, but his effort
didn't trouble Chris May.
Before the end of the first half, John Westcott had an effort that was saved with Gavin Gordon looking to pounce on the rebound, but he just
couldn't stretch enough to get a touch on it. Scott Harris finished the action in the first half by seeing his shot saved off the line.
The second half started off slowly, but it got very interesting just before the ten minute mark. Andy Atkin produced some excellent work to get
behind the defecne and made his way towards goal from the wing, only to be brough down from behind. Redhill were certain the penalty would be
given but remarkably, play continued, with Lingfield taking full advantage of the unready Reds. Nicky Forster latched onto the ball on the
left wing and centered with a low cross, the only problem with the cross was the fact the ball was a full foot over the line before it was struck
and Redhill were already preparing for a goal kick, but the fortunate Lee Flavin saw the ball strike is chest go into the net. Goal given to the
fury of the Redhill players and supporters, but 1-0 was the score and 1-0 it remained despite Redhill's continued onslaught of the Lingfield back four.
Andy Atkin once again got behind the defence and with a ferocious shot struck the post, seeing the ball bounce away from danger.
There were further chances for Redhill via Gavin Gordon, seeing his shot saved after a ball from Andy Atkin, substitute Alex Scott saw an effort
really well saved andfinally Kaiyne Woolery saw a side footed effort go just wide from an Alex Scott cross.
