Redhill put the last couple of results behind them as they silenced their critics with 7 goals, although the Reds know there's still away to go
before the words "title contenders" will again be on peoples lips.
"Today was 100% better. We've been talking about having that commitment and desire to win and it improved today. I'm glad it happened". Said Reds
boss Simon Colbran. "No-one likes losing, especially when you have committed players. The management are all winners and it's up to us to help
the team enjoy their football again."
Redhill had gone 3 games without a win, their worst run of the season, and Colbran was questioned about how the coaching staff managed to pick
the players up. "We had fun in training this week. Sometimes you have to do that. We had a bit of banter and the players responded well." He said.
Billy Medlock opened the scoring on 12 minutes after some great work by Wayne Clark set him up nicely and Clark later showed off some neat footwork
in the box before eventually being tackled, but Redhill soon doubled their lead, on 17 minutes, Redhill stalwart Jon Difford headed in a well
delivered John Westcott corner.
In the last 3 games, Redhill have created chances a plenty but the goals have been too few with a poor ratio. "Today we put them in. That's the
difference. I think of the league games we've played we only deserved to lose 1. We should be sitting at 8 wins and 1 loss, but we're not because
we failed to put them away."
Andy Atkin made it 3-0 on 35 minutes after some good play by Billy Medlock, then Medlock again grabbed an assist as he crossed in for Wayne Clark
to get the goal he fully deserved on 40 minutes.
Redhill went in at half time 5-0 when Medlock saw an opening and got his second of the game after his shot somehow squeezed underneath the body of
Jack Simpson. Colbran said "The players should be full of confidence after today. Scoring goals gives you confidence.".
The Reds tried a new system with Colbran praising his assistant and youth team manager Mike Maher. "We played a system that Mike uses with the youth
team, It is a good system, but it's one that can tire players, so we changed it towards the end and went 4-4-2."
Hassocks started something of a comeback just after half time when Anthony Hibbert scored his first of two goals and on 58 minutes, he got another
to give Hassocks the dimmest of lights at the end of the tunnell, however Redhill soon put the game to bed again when Wayne Clark got his second with
an extraordinary solo effort, weaving in out of, between players, tying their legs up in knots before also taking the ball passed Simpson and
tucking the ball away to make it 6-2.
Substitute Gavin Gordon made it 7-2 after he produced an excellent run and also rounded the 'keeper before passing the ball into the goal.
Hassocks got their third and the final goal of the game when Nathen Mile capitalised on Chris May rushing out of his box as he neatly placed the ball
in the goal, but the points were safe and Redhill hope to continue the goalfest on Saturday at Peacehaven.
Colbran ended his post match analysis by commenting on the club as a whole. "I want to thank all the committee here for the last couple of weeks as
results haven't gone the way we hoped. No-one has put me under any pressure and that really helps a manager. Being under pressure can rub off on yout
players, But I don't give up, if things aren't right, I'll change them and I hope people can see that."
