Redhill got off to a winning start with this victory at Middle Road, a place that the Lobsters haven't won for at least 4 years.
Manager Simon Colbran commented on the contrast of the two halves of the match. "Shoreham had the better of the first half, I think our players
were so up for it, sometimes when that happens, you tighten up and don't relax".
Redhill's first bit of excitement came when Wayne Clarke capitalised on a Grant Bean slip, choosing not to cross the ball immediately, resulted in
a tackle.
Tom Graves blocked a shot and John Difford was required to head the ball off the line to keep the scores level at half time. "We weren't sharp
enough and we didn't close people down in the first half." Colbran continued. "I gave them the benefit of the doubt at half time, and we were better
in the 2nd half, we could have won it about 5-0".
Stefan Joseph had a number of attempts on goal but couldn't manage to find the net after twice beating the defence to go one on one with Tom Wyatt.
Redhill took the lead on 60 minutes when John Westcotts corner was met by the head of Andy Atkin, who finally got the better of Dan Jordan, who
cut Atkin out of the first half, but was visually tiring as the game progressed and eventually found himself sent off after picking up 2 yellow
cards.
Colbran commented on the goalscorer, "You'll see him score lots of goals like that. He's brave and he gets his head in there, that's what he's all
about".
Redhill made two changes with Aaron Murphy coming off for the impressive Medi Koroma, and Scott Harris was unable to continue after picking up an
injury. Jeffrey Addo-Dankwa came on in an unfamiliar midfield position as Harris' replacement. "We were one nil up and didn't have to push for
another goal, so you bring the defending player on and try to tighten things up."
Redhill also had a strong penalty claim when Andy Atkin was brought down in the area, only the officials didn't see it that way, and all Atkin
got was a yellow card.
